SPI Sand Castle Days

1990 - The Year of the Killer Demo Sculpture

Well, I have no idea who won 1st place in 1990, but thanks to a sticky on the back of one of the few photos I found from that year, I know that Randy Hoffman took second place with his rendition of "Noah's Ark."

I also know that Rich Varano made his first visit to SPI this year, as I have a copy of the letter to the editor (PI/SPI Press) he wrote ( he had a lot of fun.)

Furthermore, I know that we pulled this event off with a budget of $10,000 ($3625 of which went toward cash prizes) - and even had a surplus of $1,125 to carry over to 1991's budget.
